Have to agree that Kenny is pretty amazing .. anyone else have comments?
I went looking for a description of why 'sales' is actually the toughest job in the World and found this amazing article by Brian Tracey that explains it so well.
To quote Brian,
"Selling is hard. It always has and it always will be. Even for the best and most experienced salespeople, it is a continual effort. You can make it easier by developing your skills in the critical areas of prospecting, presenting and closing sales, but you can never make selling an easy profession. However, once you accept that selling is a hard way to make a living, it somehow becomes a little easier. When you stop expecting it to be something other than it is, much of the stress of selling goes out of it. As William James said, "The first step in dealing with any difficulty is to be willing to have it so."

Found this on the new salesforce.com blog called Quotable. There are a few great stats. Not sure I agree with all sentiment but if anyone would like to comment I would love a debate!

I appreciate the question and as you are among the first few of our users, you are correct - we are obviously a fairly young community site.
We created the community for two reasons. My background has allowed me to enjoy more than 30 years of selling - along the way I would like to think I became fairly proficient at it. But you can always still learn.
Because I managed some fairly large sales teams, we have always had our company's enterprise software solution inflicted on us. These products, we all know which they are do not add a lot of value to sales professionals. Eventually I reached a point where I felt enough is enough .. we are going to build our own.
This forum for the sales community is actually nothing to do with that product that I built specifically but in building this tool I realized that unless it also included a forum for sales people to turn to to connect to their peers, share information, ask questions, up-skill themselves etc then any sales software solution was only half a solution.
I created this site to act as that sales community forum.
I realize that there are a few others on the web already and that's fantastic!
I dont plan to try to replace or take over anyone's audience. I just wanted to create a simple site where sales professionals can gather and help each other out. Even if just for laughs.
Welcome to the sales community forum and I will do everything in my power to make sure that it adds some value Derek to you and to anyone else who chooses to join us.
